1. Participate in resume writing, interviewing and other seminars offered
by your Career Services Office.
2. Prepare an effective resume.
You will want to bring an ample supply.
3. Come to WTID prepared with some information about the school district
and community where you want to teach and reside.
4. Be alert to the fact that some school districts may cancel and others
may register late. Monitor the district on-line registration information
closely.
5. Make plans for travel, lodging, professional attire, etc.
6. Set attainable goals for "The Day"
- Set your
priorities on 5-10 school districts based on vacancies, location,
size of district, etc. and go after your choice. It may not be
possible to speak with every administrator at WTID.
- Some employers
will conduct a mini-screening interview at their booth (5-15 minutes).
Be prepared to sell yourself and to ask questions. School districts
will contact you if they desire a second, more in-depth interview
after WTID.
- Some employers
may be at WTID to collect your resume and /or distribute information
about their school district.
7. Inform
your Career Services Office if you require special accommodations.
